THE PROCESS
Lingual braces are recognised as an “invisible” treatment method because they are fitted at the back of your teeth as opposed to the front. Due to this positioning, lingual braces are also often called “inside” braces. This treatment typically lasts for between six and nine months, which is worth it for a life-long, beautiful smile. You’ll barely have time to get used to your new braces before treatment is over and they are taken out.
Just like conventional braces, each bracket of a lingual brace is designed to seamlessly adapt to the shape of your teeth and apply moderate pressure to it, so that they all slowly move into the desired position. Once each of the brackets has been fitted, the wire is threaded through them and your treatment can commence!
THE BENEFITS
Many adults are not very enthusiastic about having braces because of the way they look. However, the main and most obvious advantage to lingual braces is the fact that they are almost completely unnoticeable. Unless a person closely inspects the inside of your mouth, it’s unlikely that your braces will be detected by someone other than yourself.
If you play a wind instrument, such as a trumpet or clarinet, and you’re thinking about having braces fitted, you may prefer to opt for lingual braces over traditional braces. This is because they are less likely to obstruct your musical performance.
